I completed all treatments for breast cancer but now I am supposed to take hormone blocker, named anastrozole. I never went through anything like this when I went through menopause. I’d go off of it if I weren’t so afraid of getting the cancer back.I believe most of the meds have these side effects, some are not as bad as others, but the side effects are enough to drive you nuts. I really would like to try putting it on all over and maybe covering it and letting it sit overnight, but that would be when disaster happens and I would have to quick run out and my hair would be all greased up!!!! You take it once a day, with or without food. I lost my hair, it’s not coming back very well, my last treatment was in April 2015. Will I eventually lose it all?I have muscle and joint pain, insomnia, and my hair is rapidly leaving. There are side effects and everyone reacts differently. Hi I hope everyone is doing well. II was having muscle and joint pain and concerned that I might lose my hair.It made my joints hurt so bad and the hot flashes (which will go with all of the estrogen blockers) that I finally changed to letrozole. I took that drug, it made my knees and joints hurt so bad that I could not walk, I had to change drugs, I am now on Letrolzole, it has side effects too but so far nothing like the anastrozole. I had it with the tamoxifen and now with this. I have had the odd ache and pain but I put this down to age. I never went through anything like this when I went through menopause.

I had a scare and biopsy last spring. The hot flashes are horrible, but taking 800 mg of magnesium has helped. Anastrozole comes as tablets you can take at home.

My understanding, from every expert I have talked with, is that these drugs, including the one you have been Prescribed, are a critical part of your treatment. Do not take more of it, do not take it more often, and do not take it for a longer time than your doctor ordered. I have had very few problems. My hair has been thinning since the menopause and has fallen out a bit but I'm not sure if it's caused by the operation or the drug.
