If you do gain weight, I believe that's time for you to go to the doctor about getting off of it. Last September, I was on both spironolactone and metformin. I have been prescribed spironolactone for my acne. In this case, raising the iron levels (by taking iron pills) and addressing the irregular periods is going to help the hair loss - not necessarily stopping the spironolactone.
I don't know what dosages are generally used for hormonal acne, though, so I'm not sure how much it would lower it.Spironolactone is a diuretic so you're more likely to lose weight than gain it (it reduces water retention). Spiro decreases testosterone, which has a pretty extreme effect on muscle mass. It's odd because on the pill I don't gain weight but with depo I did.
