Anyone wishing to demolish Joseph Smith's interpretation of Facsimile 3 with the greatest economy of effort need look no further than his designating as "King Pharaoh" and "Prince of Pharaoh" two figures so obviously female that a three-year-old child will not hesitate to identify them as such.
However, the recent discovery of an ancient Egyptian document linking Abraham's name to a lion-couch scene should not be rashly ignored (see In addition to the works cited above which were available in Smith's time, the 1809 book "A Critical Commentary on the Old and New Testymanet" (Symon Patrick and others) relates beliefs about Abraham, such as that his landsmen knew astronomy, his father Terah was an idolater, they lived among idolaters. Those who know, through the power of the Holy Ghost, that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph was a true prophet called to restore the Church of Christ, should not be swayed by the seemingly powerful attacks of critics.
