Our brake problems vanished completely and the van went almost two years without having to have any brake service done. She said they would split it with me 50/50. It’s awful and so unfortunate but glad to know that I’m not the only one, the dealership was making me feel like this issue was in my head and that it’s “normal” to have to replace smoking hot burning brakes every couple of years!!

I drive my children in this car!! We did not know the vehicle would require brake work at every oil change. it is as bad as ever and even after having the repair done there was a small vibration but it was a lot better. I was so happy when he brought it home, but as soon as I drove it, I was so disappointed. But im sure this vehicle will be in a junkyard way before that.
One of the front calipers has locked up & I will replace it myself.Luckily, this is our third vehicle so we have 2 others that we can rely on.

The local Chrysler dealer here offered to fix them for about $1500, replacing all the rotors and pads. The latest issue was the left rear rotor heating up badly and creating a loud howling noise. Based on the comments here, I’ll purchase the premium brand and keep an eye on their performance (and this website). Every normal vehicle calipers are good for 200K miles !, I replaced already twice in my 75k miles chrysler.
Given all the comments I’ve read here, I think Chrysler would be wise to offer some assistance. TIRE SENSORS….one day they work, the next day they don’t….6/10/14 got it out of shop and they said they had to replace BOTH FOBS (one was just replaced in Oct ’13) because the keys were “sticking” ok whatever… they claim that’s why my doors keep opening, why my car was starting from the inside of my house and no one had the keys but me, was told that’s why my back gate was open all nite cause the button was stuck and all the doors unlock by themselves when you walk away is because the buttons was “STUCK”…….6/12/14 EVERYTHING IS BROKE AGAIN……tire sensors, doors opening and shutting, doors unlocking, wind sheid wipers come on with nothing on the windshelid. This situation is inexcusable. The quote me 750$ Canadian to fix. Needed the room and love the convenience.Purchased van in early 2011 new. My mechanic said that all of us owners need to file a complaint with the NHTSA and they can force a recall if enough of us make complaints. Mine is a 2008 grand caravan sxt, However I bought it from my local Chrysler dodge dealership in 2010 with 416 miles on it, in 2012 I had to do a full rotor, pad & caliper replacement and now two years later at 28292 miles a 2nd full rotor, pad and caliper replacement both times due to smoking hot burning brakes!! Being that I haven’t got the time between now and the morning to take it to Chrysler (as I have to use it in the morning) I went to my auto parts store and purchased new rotors and pads.
He had to fabricate a tool to make it work. Dealership said all rotors need to be replaced. We also had to replace the pads because this issue created excessive wear on the pads.
