My face got much dryer (before Accutane I was extremely oily) which I welcomed, honestly it was easier to deal with than being so oily. I have been on accutane twice now and I was only offered it after a topical only treatment and 3 separate antibiotic treatments. So I started Accutane a few days ago and my face is SO oily. He gave me the option of calling back and setting it up, but I don't really know what to do. It's dangerous can harm your liver and you have to get a monthly blood test to see if it is doing so. I hear thats a thing. Honestly, it worked out great! I want to say that only a dermatologist would be able/ willing to prescribe it. Some derms are more blasè but that is my experience. I just wanted to add that both a family doctor and a dermatologist can technically prescribe accutane, but as mentioned, there are lots of side effects and if something else might work, most doctors are going to want to try that first, as there are less short and long term issues with other acne treatments than Accutane.
