Now on Prazosin, 2mg, I sleep through most nights. (about a year now, though not perfect sleep but significantly ) Although it's getting bad again and I was considering restarting it if it gets any worse, which is what made me think of it. hi~!
My nightmares were constant and were throwing days off as they were so realistic and I was fighting to keep real life separated. I was lucky 2-3 was enough for me I think.So the basic point here is that off use of any Rx pill obviously needs your drs approval.I do not know of any pill that will stop night mares , hallucinations in sleep, dream work (a new term - at last) , lucid dreaming or EHS ... nothing really ....there are a lot of pills out there but frankly they are designed to make you sleep based on the medical model we use in western society ....Prazosin is a blood pressure medicine some times used off label to assist with sleep ....Need to have long talk with your dr about Rx pills .... all pills ....Benadryl is an anti histamine used for sleep .... it is not considered to be a depressant.I do not recommend either but they are OTC ....Always practice good sleep hygiene and remember to drink lots of water 24/7 ..... your brain never really sleeps and it requires a lot to keep going and then to host everyday reality for you to enjoy daily !! Some people need to be up to 10-15mg per night, or up to 20-40mg per day in divided doses, (built up to this amount over weeks) in the studies I read before they start getting the positive effects on sleep and stress.

I don't even observe lower blood pressure.From what I understand, you may not notice low blood pressure unless it is already somewhat low. I don't see any difference. I think it is a horrible drug and I'll never take it again.I took Clonidine for a couple of years and had the same experience. You are supposed to start really low like .5mg and for some people with PTSD (what the off label studies were treating) they were taking up to like 40mg per day, but that's pretty extreme.
